ROCCAT Reprises CES Invasion With Power-Grid iPhone Gaming App, Ryos Mechanical Keyboard

One year ago Hamburg, Germany-based PC peripheral maker ROCCAT made their presence known at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. They made a strong first impression with a focus on usability and feature sets that seemed to defy their affordable price tags. CES 2013 finds ROCCAT introducing Ryos, their first mechanical keyboard, and an updated version of their clever smartphone-driven game control app, Power-Grid.

The majority of professional gamers — and likely novelists and full time writers — will praise the benefits of mechanical keyboards for their durability and responsiveness.branded usb sticks come in different forms and shapes, but they all use flash memory. ROCCAT’s Ryos is looking to up the ante with per-key lighting and two 32-bit ARM processors. What this brings to the table is a deeper level of immersion. Players will have seemingly endless ways to customize the keyboard to illuminate key bindings or display health bars, even use it as a hit indicator in RPGs or shooters. With Apple’s ipad smart cover, iPad should be pretty well protected. There’s no telling how it will handle a drop, but for protection from every-day usage, iCircle + Smart Cover will certainly do the trick.

Plus, I’m a sucker for black hardware with blue LEDs and extended functionality: The Ryos also has two onboard USB ports in addition to headphone and microphone jacks. The 8gb mp3 player comes in various sizes and colors. Therefore, every runner has a fitting size and a choice of the favorite color. When you purchase this shoe

ROCCAT’s trailer for the Ryos is below (fun fact: The man doing the growling voiceover also announces changes to DPI settings in ROCCAT’s gaming mice). The Ryos launches sometime during Q1 2013. I’ll be taking it for a spin next week at CES.

ROCCAT will also demo a near-final version of Power-Grid, an app that essentially turns your iPhone into a PC command center and second-screen experience.Sadly, the iPad doesn't have either a USB port or an SD slot, but Apple sells the Apple ipad camera connection kit for £25. I was wowed when I saw it in action at E3 2012, and am anticipating the improvements made over the past 6 months.

Imagine playing League of Legends or Starcraft 2 with champion abilities or custom commands mapped to your smartphone. Gamers can use it to keep in touch via TeamSpeak or Skype, change in-game settings, the earliest teaser photos of the Clip Mp3 players have been of an all-white kid's size shoe that still featured the LBJ23 logo or follow a livestream or Twitter feed. The clincher is the ability to customize your own grid of commands for virtually any game function using ROCCAT’s drag-and-drop interface.

Power-Grid even works the other way around by allowing you to control your PC and monitor things like GPU temperature and CPU usage. There’s even a button to order pizza,Now you can cost effectively mount a ipad bluetooth keyboard in conjunction with your RAM Tablet mounting solution using this design. so I’m pretty much sold!

Power-Grid will be a free app for iPhone, and ROCCAT is planning to bring it to tablets, Android and Windows Phone devices. I’ll have a hands-on report next week.
